Floyd Laurence Zuehlke

Floyd Laurence Zuehlke, of Taylor, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2017, at St. David’s Hospital in Round Rock. He was 91 years and 11 months old.

He was born on June 17, 1925, in Thorndale, son of Charlie F. Zuehlke and Adella (Kirsche) Zuehlke. He was baptized on July 5, 1925, by Rev. F.H. Stelzer at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, and he was confirmed at the same church on April 10, 1938. He remained a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale all of his life.

He attended grade school at St. Paul Lutheran School in Thorndale. He then attended and graduated from Thorndale High School in 1942.

Johnnie "Faye" Dokupil

Johnnie “Faye” Dokupil, age 75, of Temple passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at a local care center. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.  The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the funeral home.

Faye was born on May 4, 1942, in Milam County, the daughter of Robert Lee Matthews and Matilda Janes Matthews. In 1975 she married Johnny Dokupil in Temple and has resided in Temple for 50 plus years. She was a local beautician for many years and enjoyed music, bingo, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

William David Burns

William David Burns, 94, of Chicago, Ill., passed away on April 11, 2017, due to natural causes at his Marina Tower’s home.

A small memorial luncheon will be held in the summer to celebrate David’s life. Those wishing to attend the luncheon may keep in contact with Luis M. Romero via e-mail at lmr197777@gmail.com.  He will send out details regarding the luncheon once a date is determined.

David was born in Cameron, Texas, on March 12, 1923. He graduated from Austin High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism at the University of Texas in Austin in 1947. David attended Columbia University, as well, in pursuit of his Master’s Degree. David went on to serve in the Army Air Force and was stationed in Chicago, Ill., as an Air Traffic Controller.

Sharon Fay Cantwell Gonzales

Sharon Fay Cantwell Gonzales, 49, of Rockdale died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at her home. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, at the Davilla Baptist Church with Rev. David Cox and Bill Harris officiating. Burial followed in the Davilla Cemetery.  Visitation was held Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Gonzales, a homemaker, was born Sept. 17, 1967, in Austin to Bill and Myrtle (Smith) Cantwell.  She married Frank Gonzales in 2016.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Crispin Gonzales; and a sister, Elizabeth Ireland.

Martha Hertenberger

Martha Hertenberger, 63, of Cameron died Saturday, May 13, 2017, in a Cameron nursing and rehab center. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak with Rev. George Thirumangalam officiating. Burial will follow in the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Mrs. Hertenberger was born June 14, 1953, in Temple to Henry John and Jo Lee (Zalesky) Vaculin.  She married  David Hertenberger on June 14, 1975, and had worked for Buckholts State Bank for many years. 

She is survived by: her husband, David Hertenberger of Cameron; son, John Hertenberger of Dallas; daughter, Selena Westbrook of Conroe; sister, Nancy Michalka of Temple; and two grandchildren.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Irene Ruth Vybiral

Irene Ruth Vybiral, 88, passed away on May 9, 2017, in Aransas Pass. She was born on June 29, 1928, in Buckholts, to Vince and Julia Krupicka.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Viola Brown and Evelyn Pfannstiel; brothers, Raymond Krupicka, Adolf Krupicka, Alvin Krupicka, Benjamin “Ben” Krupicka.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Albert Vybiral; daughter, Lisa Honeycutt  and husband Greg Honeycutt;nephew, Anton Pfannstiel; brother, Robert Krupicka; grandchildren, Jatanna Reese and husband William Reese and Kyla Honeycutt; great-grandchildren, Haley Vanderveer, Braxton Reese, Ely Reese and Makayla Reese; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Jasper Leroy “Roy” Bowen

Jasper Leroy “Roy” Bowen went to his Heavenly home and into the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 5, 2017. Roy loved the Lord and was always happy and ready to share with anyone about the Lord, either in witnessing, in conversation or through his singing and playing his guitar. He was a member of His House of Prayer Church in Forest Hills.

Mr. Bowen was born in Davilla in Milam County, Texas, Aug. 16, 1933, to Daniel Green Bowen and Lillie Mae Davis.

Roy is survived by his wife, Mary Bowen of Fort Worth; one son, Jasper Dan Bowen of Florida; one daughter, Barbara Lee Bowen Batts of Florida; three step-sons, Don Taylor and Kim, Cory Taylor and Kelly, and David Russell, all of Fort Worth; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; one brother, John E. Corbin of Morgan’s Point; and one sister, Linda J. Lipuma of Copperas Cove.

Don Robert Lee

Mr. Don Robert Lee, 81, of Cameron, formerly of Shamrock, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in a Temple hospital. A memorial service for Mr. Lee will be held at a later date in Shamrock.

Mr. Lee was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Wheeler, to Richard Ennis and Grace Copeland Lee. He graduated from Austin High School. He was a retired employee of IBM. Mr. Lee was an active HAM radio operator. He raised Colorado Beefmaster cattle and was a longtime member of Southwest Cattleman’s Association. Preceding Mr. Lee in death are his parents, his loving wife of 49 years, Ann Smith Lee, and one daughter, Miranda Lee. Don was loved by everyone he met especially his family and many friends. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Melissa Ann Hash

Melissa Ann Hash, 49, of Harker Heights, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in a Harker Heights Medical center. Services will be at a later date.

Ms. Hash was born Oct. 15, 1967, to Howard and Juliette (Wright) Johnson. She had worked as a Lab Technician. 

She is survived by: sons, James Hash of Pennsylvania, Josh Hash of West Virginia, and Jacob Hash of West Virginia; daughter, MaKayla McCormick of Cameron; father, Howard Johnson of West Virginia; brother, Charles Johnson of Oregon; sister, April Childress of West Virginia; and one grandchild.

Clyde Chandler

Clyde William Chandler, 60, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 27, 2017, in Cedar Springs. He was born October 15, 1956, to Esper Kaylor and Bettie Ruth Chandler, in Lafayette, La.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Rosa; his daughters, Kayla and Kelsey Chandler; his brother, Michael Chandler and wife Susan; his sister, Jeni “Cricket” Chandler; his beloved secretary, Tami Bounds; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, including his husband-in-law, James DeBaun and his favorite ex-wife, Patty Ortiz-DeBaun. Clyde was a loving husband, a wonderful father, a big brother, and a good friend to all who knew him.
