Johnnie “Faye” Dokupil, age 75, of Temple passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at a local care center.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, Texas 76504. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the funeral home.
Faye was born on May 4, 1942, in Milam County, the daughter of Robert Lee Matthews and Matilda Janes Matthews. In 1975 she married Johnny Dokupil in Temple and has resided in Temple for 50 plus years. She was a local beautician for many years and enjoyed music, bingo, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Faye is survived by her children, Shanna Goeke (Randy) of Belton, Kevin Abbott (Chrystal Merrill) of Belton, Denise Dewberry (Larry) of Temple, Michele Rea (R.J. White) of Little River, and Johnny Dokupil Jr. (Sharon) of Temple; nine grandchildren, Chad Dewberry, Travis Alexander, Riley Rea, Lance Goeke, Dustin Goeke, Ashley Ybarra, Tatum Abbott, Jennifer Dokupil, and Nicola Dokupil; and nine great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Caleb, Kaylee, Raegan, Nayeli, Robert, Jr., Noehlani, Kelsey, and Kenna. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Billy Matthews of Cedar Park, Curtis Matthews (Carol) of Cameron, Gladys Kenna of Baytown, Ruth Gaskins of Marlin, and Fran Martini (Charlie) of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; parents, Robert and Matilda Matthews; two brothers, W.D. Matthews and Robert Matthews Jr.; and a sister, Jean Edmondson.
In lieu of flowers memorials to Scott and White hospice would be appreciated.
