Elvira "Sissy" Hulsey

Elvira “Sissy” Hulsey, 86, of Thorndale, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, in the Granger Villa in Granger.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, in the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor. Visitation will also be Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Elvira Hulsey, lovingly known as “Sissy” was born Dec. 7, 1930, to Henry Richard Arnold and Annie Bertha (Remmert) Moehnke. Sissy was a restaurant owner and operator and in her quite time she loved to read western novels. She and Weldon Earl Hulsey were married until his death.

Sissy is preceded in death by her father, on Aug. 3, 1962; her mother on May 28, 1981; her husband on August 20, 1998; three brothers, Bennie Ray Moehnke, Glen Roy Moehnke and Carl Moehnke; and two sisters, Dorothy Drozd and Bernice Jrline Hollowell.

Ray Charles Melton

Memorial services for Ray Charles Melton, 58, of Cameron will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Mission for Souls Church in Cameron.  Private burial services will be at a later date.

Ray Melton was born July 31, 1958, in Cameron to Magnolia Melton and Henry Truman. He grew up in Cameron and attended O.J. Thomas School. 

He is survived by: a daughter, Laura Melton of Bryan; brother, David Melton of Cameron; sisters, Mary Jo Scott and Kenneth of Fort Worth,  and Janice Furlow of Dallas; nieces,  Aukitrian Elmore of Wisconsin, Ashley Hardeman of Fort Worth and Kyandra Hardeman of El Paso; nephews, Qujuan Melton of Dallas, Detorrence Melton of Fort Worth and Justin Melton of Rosebud; great-niece,  Aleesa Kikombe of Fort Worth; numerous cousins; and special friends,  the Alexander Family. Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Gary Vinton

Gary Vinton, age 68, of Milano, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at his home in Milano. Services were held Thursday, July 20, 2017, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Burt Graham officiating. Burial was in the Milano Cemetery. Visitation was held before the services at the funeral home.

Gary was born Aug. 2, 1948, to Gerald “Bigun” and Eugenia “Genie” Fern (Williams) Vinton. He was a lifelong resident of Milano and a graduate of Milano High School, Class of 1966. He and Carolyn Yakesch were married Dec. 23, 1968, in the Milano First Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. From 1972 to 2003, he worked at Alcoa until his retirement. He was a member of Milano First Baptist Church and of Milano Volunteer Fire Department where he was serving as current president.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bigun on Dec. 17, 1997; and his mother, Genie on Aug. 3, 2008.

Lola Laura Gann

Mrs. Lola Laura Gann, 94, of Cameron, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, in a Temple Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Gann will be held Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron, with Malcolm Kniffen officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery, near Cameron.

Mrs. Gann was born November 30, 1922, in Guadalupe County, to Oscar B. and Ida (Tonne) Zieschang. She was a homemaker and a member of the Orchard St. Church of Christ in Cameron.

Survivors included: three sons, David Gann and wife Erna Mae, Billy Gann and wife Joyce, and Richard Gann, all of Cameron; one sister, Lillie Mae Williams of Austin; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Gayle Gann; two brothers; and three sisters.

Marjorie Brundrett Longeway

Marjorie Brundrett Longeway, 88, of Cameron died Friday, July 21, 2017, at her home. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Rockport Cemetery in Rockport.

Mrs. Longeway, a retired banker was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Fulton to Oliver and Violet (Johnson) Brundrett. She grew up in Rockport and graduated from Rockport High School. She then moved to Austin where she met and married Leon Longeway on June 2, 1955. Together they ran a poultry farm.

Her husband preceded her in death in 2015. She is survived by several cousins.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Daryl Howard

Daryl Howard, 68, of Cameron, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. Services with military honors will be held at a later date.

Daryl was born Oct. 21, 1948, in Janesville, Wis., to Paul and Venice (Hamilton) Howard. He enlisted in the US Army in 1967 during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged upon his retirement in 1997.  He married Susie Orrick on June 28, 1987.  Daryl was a member of the Crossroads Biker Church in Rockdale and loved going to church.  He enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting and fishing, antiquing, and spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. Daryl was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, a member of the VFW and American Legion and loved doing charitable motorcycle rides.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Venice Howard; brother, Richard Howard; and sister, Sandy Hicks.

Sarah Suzanne Patterson

A memorial service for Sarah Suzanne Patterson, 24, of Cameron was held Saturday, July 15, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Rogers, with Rev. Tommy Richardson and Rev. Robert Copeland officiating. Miss Patterson died Thursday, July 13, 2017, in an automobile accident near Buckholts.

She was born May 12, 1993, in Dallas, to Robert and Brenda Sue (Kunz) Patterson. She attended Rogers High School where she was active in the RHS Marching Band and Theater.  She was a member of the Rogers High School graduating class of 2011. She also attended Central Texas Beauty College, and was employed by Regis Hair Salon in Temple since her graduation in March of 2016. Miss Patterson was a member of First Baptist Church of Rogers.

Melodie Hope Jones

Melodie Hope Jones, age 20, of Milano, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017, near Gause.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, in the Milano High School Gymnasium, 600 North 6th Street in Milano, with burial to follow in the Milano Cemetery in Milano. Visitation will be Thursday evening, July 20, from 6-8 p.m., at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Melodie was born to Jeffery Steven and Jimann (Peed) Jones on July 30, 1996. She was a recent 2015 Graduate of Milano High School and was pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse at Blinn College. She loved life and she loved people. She always believed the best in everyone she met. She loved her family, friends, and especially her cat, Zoey. She was dedicated in the Milano First Baptist Church and later baptized in the Somerville Lake as a young lady. She always chose God first in her life and prayer was very important to her.

Irene Mildred Arldt Schneider

Irene Mildred Arldt Schneider, 87, of Thorndale, peacefully went to be with her Lord on July 4, 2017. 

She was born in Coryell County on Jan. 18, 1930, to Carl (Charlie) and Lillie Richter Arldt. She was baptized on Jan. 26, 1930, and confirmed on April 18, 1943, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove, where she also completed her schooling.

She worked at Scottish Rite Dormitory in Austin. Irene was married to Rhylan Victor Schneider on Aug. 22, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove. Irene and Rhylan enjoyed 58 blessed years of marriage.

Earnestine Clifton

Earnestine Clifton, 73, (born Nov. 9,1943) of Cameron, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017. 

Her visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, July 14. Her funeral service is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. Both services will be held at North Orchard Street Church of Christ - 1000 N Orchard Ave Cameron, Texas 76520. 

Her services are entrusted to All Families Mortuary in Hearne (www.allfamiliesmortuary.com).
