Romona Lynn Cook

Romona Lynn Cook, 63, of Bryan passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016. 

Funeral Services were held Monday, Aug. 15, in the Chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home with burial following in the Lawrence Chapel Cemetery in Thrall. 

Born July 14, 1953 in Taylor, she was the daughter of Andrew and Gwendolyn (Grelle) Cook. She enjoyed working in her flower garden with her daylilies and Roses. She loved her puppies dearly and was an avid bowler who was on a league called the Go Getters. Romona was a loving mother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Romona leaves behind to cherish her memories, three sons, Donald, Galen, and Ryan Clark; two brothers; three sisters; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Earnest Ray Hurt

Earnest Ray Hurt, 71, of Rockdale, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016 in a Rockdale hospital. Memorial services will be at a later date.

Mr. Hurt, a retired mechanic from TXU, was born Dec. 25, 1944 in Lubbock to Ernest O.Z. and Helen Irene (Clampett) Hurt.

He married Joyce Rodgers and was a member of the I.B.E.W.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Hurt of Rockdale; son, Cody Hurt of Rockdale; daughters Crystal Taylor of Rockdale, Kathy Hurt of Houston and Rhonda Schutze of Quitman; four grandchildren,Alan Ray Hurt, Christopher Hurt, Christina Schutze and Kayrinn Marie Taylor; and one great grandchild.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Alene Fay Bennett

Mrs. Alene Fay Bennett, 56, of Cameron, passed away Saturday, Aug. 13, at a San Antonio hospital, after an illness. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Mrs. Bennett was born Feb. 3, 1960, to Arnold Ray and Virginia Elkins, in Houston.

She married James Bennett, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Cameron Church of Christ.

Survivors include three sons, Luke Hatcher and wife, Jessica, of Center, Carl Alan Groendes and John Edward Groendes, both of Rockdale; her mother – Virginia Elkins of Cameron; and a sister, Kathy Miller and husband Mark of Giddings. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Ashleigh Byrd, Aiden Jutson, Acie Groendes, Haley Groendes, Gracie Groendes and Allison Hatcher.

She is also preceded in death by her father and one brother, Donald Ray Elkins.

Ann Hosek Tepera Zalesky

Ann Hosek Tepera Zalesky

Ann Hosek Tepera Zalesky, 99, of Cameron died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 at a Houston hospice facility.

A rosary will be recited Saturday, Aug. 13, at 9 a.m. prior to mass at St. Monica’s Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial will follow in the Ss. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery in Marak.

After the burial, lunch will be served at Simon George Memorial Hall on St. Monica’s site in Cameron.

Anna Hosek Tepera Zalesky was born July 26, 1917, in Milam County in an area known as “Little Hills” between Marak and Pettibone, Texas, south of Big Elm Creek. Her parents were Joseph Hosek and Anna Hosek Krejci.

Glen Ray Patschke

Glen Ray Patschke, 59, of Thorndale went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Wesleyan Nursing Home after a long and tough battle with cancer.

Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale. Burial will follow at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Glen was born Nov. 17, 1956 to Edward and Eileen (Richter) Patschke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. Glen enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He was very dedicated to caring for his parents. Glen had no children of his own but he was like a second father to his younger sister Deborah.

Glen was preceded in death by his grandparents.

He is survived by his parents, Edward and Eileen Patschke of Thorndale and sister, Deborah Dooley of Thrall.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale in memory of Glen R. Patschke.

Daniel D. McDaniel

Daniel D. McDaniel, 76, of Tulia, Texas formerly of Cameron, passed away Sunday morning, July 31, 2016 in Tulia. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.Wednesday, Aug. 3, in the Central Church of Christ with Tim Johnson and Bob Colson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Dan was born Feb. 2, 1940 in Happy to Fowler and Alberta McKay McDaniel. After graduation from Tulia High School in 1958 he attended Abilene Christian where he met and married Julia Brown in 1959. Dan attended Texas Tech majoring in Animal Husbandry.

Edward Frank Eichinger

Edward Frank Eichinger

Edward Frank Eichinger, 88, of Rockdale and formerly of Cameron, died Wednesday, July 27, in a Rockdale nursing home. 

Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 1, at Pebble Grove Cemetery near Maysfield.

Mr. Eichinger, a retired carpenter, was born July 27, 1928 in Houston to Frank and Olive (Sanders) Eichinger.

Mr. Eichinger was an avid squirrel hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by several siblings.

He is survived by brothers Thomas Eichinger of Rockdale, Jim Eichinger of Cameron and Leland Eichinger, both of Cameron, and Doug Eichinger of Bremond; sisters Bertha Carter of Georgetown, Mary Shipwash of Austin, Lois Carroll of Tahlequah, Okla., Lana Coker of Comanche and Betty Sue Chatham of Cedar Park; and step daughter Emma Koenig of Minerva.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Jane Stedman David

Jane Stedman David, 88, of Houston died July 17, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hilry H. and Beulah Stiles Stedman and siblings Lucile Monroe, Mary Jo Stroup and Dick Stedman. She is survived by daughters Sarah Harman Ellis and Hilry Harman Heimann; grandson Christopher Heimann and wife Paige Heimann, great granddaughter Margot Heimann; granddaughter Jennifer Heimann Sowell and spouse Forrest, great grandson Hayes Sowell; and granddaughter Lauren Heimann as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Jane was born in Smithville, Texas, raised in Cameron and is a graduate of Yoe High School. She attended The University of Texas and graduated from Baylor University. She was a long-standing member of the Houston Junior League and Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.

A memorial service was held July 22 at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston. Please consider contribution in Jane’s memory to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.

Evelyn Riggins

Evelyn Riggins, 77 (born Aug. 10, 1938) of Cameron, passed away on Saturday July 23, 2016. 

Her viewing will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, July 29, at North Orchard Street Church of Christ, 1000 N. Orchard Ave, Cameron.

Her funeral service is set for 11a.m. on Saturday July 30, at First Baptist Church, 400 West Main St., Cameron.
