Mary Jane Bonin

Graveside services will be held at noon on Friday, Dec. 2, at Friendship Cemetery for Mary Jane Bonin, 74, of Buckholts. Pastor Gene VanNoord will officiate.

Mrs. Bonin died Tuesday, Nov. 29, at a Temple Hospital after an illness.

Mrs. Bonin was born Dec. 9, 1941, in Buckholts, to Bradford A. and Ruth Lyles Cryer. Mrs. Bonin was a retired recreation coordinator for Texaco.  She was married to Elray Bonin. He preceded her in death.  She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by: her daughter, Lavon Marks-Schneider of Bossier City, La.; brothers, Dennis Cryer and wife Connie of Killeen and Steven Cryer of Buckholts; sisters, Evelyn Bales of Harker Heights, Barbara Gilbert of San Angelo, and Virginia Keele and husband Eddie Glen of Holland; and three grandchildren, Randy Marks, Lacy Marks and Lisa Marks. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Evelyn Denise Salley.

Joseph Andrew Tomek

Joseph Andrew Tomek, 94, of Burlington, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, in a Cameron nursing facility. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak with Rev. George Thirumangalam and Rev. Jim Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery.  Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Mr. Tomek, a retired farmer, was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Groveton to Karel and Frances Tomek. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He married Martha Mary Mikula on Jan. 28, 1947, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 25, 2009. He had also worked as a school custodian. 

He was preceded in death by brothers, Alfons, Charlie, Ludwig, Frank and Peter; sisters, Frances Roper and Sister Juliana; by grandson, John Paul Meier; and sons-in-law, John Hall and Joe Hammermeister.

Beulah Faye Franklin

Beulah Faye Franklin, 79, of Cameron died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at her home. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Bob Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Franklin was born May 18, 1937, in Cameron to Hubert and Lessie (Tindall) Edmondson. She was a graduate of C. H. Yoe High School. She married Lee Roy Franklin and he preceded her in death in 2015. Mrs. Franklin had worked as a banker in Bryan, Killeen, Harker Heights and Fort Hood. She was also a secretary for the vocational school at Killeen ISD and also worked for the Cameron Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post 2010 in Cameron. 

She is survived by her son Lee Roy Franklin Jr. of Cameron.

Carolyn Goza

Carolyn Goza, 80, of Cameron, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, in a Cameron nursing center. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Brother Wayne Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Goza was born June 22, 1936, in Fort Worth to Roy Earl and Lillie Gloria (Widemun) Cook. She married Maurice W. “Pete” Goza on June 4, 1954. She had worked as an office manager for the Harris County Parks Division for many years.  She was a member of the Marlow Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her busband, M. W. “Pete” Goza of Cameron; son, Maurice  Goza and wife Vicki of Cameron; daughter, Kathy Youngblood and husband Sid of Cameron; brother, John Cook and wife Jane of Cleburne; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Gilbert Melvin Hohle

Former Thorndale resident Gilbert Melvin Hohle passed away Nov. 23, 2016. He was 87 years old. He taught school at St. Paul Lutheran in Thorndale from 1955 through 1970.

Gilbert was born to C.B. and Martha Hohle on March 22, 1929, in The Grove, Texas. He was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove on March 29, 1929. 

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Edith Winkler; and his brother, Charles (Charlie). 

He is survived by his sister, Lydia Winkler of The Grove; brother, Elmer of Liberty Hill; and his former wife, Francis Bisson of Nolanville. All five of Gilbert’s children survive him: Kathy (Travis) Smith of Austin, Philip (Gwen) Hohle of Cedar Park, Lawanda (Russ) Filyaw of Taylor, Mark Hohle of The Grove, and Michael (Debbie) Hohle of Moody. In addition, he will be missed by his nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Reba M. Stanford

Reba M. Stanford, 96, of Beaumont and formerly of Milam County died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, in a Beaumont hospice facility. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Doug Budd officiating. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 21, from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stanford was born March 30, 1920, in Milam County to Theo F. and Drucilla (Griffin) Burnett. She married D.C. “Carter” Stanford and he preceded her in death on July 27, 2014. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cameron. 

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Stanford; and a granddaughter, Shelly Stanford.

Edward Parker

Edward Parker, 96, of Rockdale passed away Friday morning, Nov. 11, 2016, at his home. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, in the First Baptist Church in Lexington. Burial in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington.

Curtis Edward Parker, long-time cattleman and rancher, departed this world on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2016, to be with friends and family. 

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Corinne Ingram Parker. Additionally, he is survived by two children, Pamela Sherrill and Dr. Barry Parker of Houston; four grandchildren including Andrea Sherrill, Aaron Parker, Adam and Chryl Sherrill and Ryan and Jennifer Parker;  great-grandchildren are Caitlin, Chance and Chase Sherrill.  

He was a lifelong member and a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Lexington.

Katherine Ann Moore Bedrich

Katherine Ann Moore Bedrich of Cameron passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, listening to the music she loved.

Always passionate of nature, she served as the President of the El Camino Real Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists. Kathy was a devout Catholic. She served as a Eucharistic minister, coordinator of CCE, and taught RCIA classes.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles; son, Thomas Bedrich and wife Kathleen; grandson, Jeremy Bedrich; sister, Sandy Patzke; niece, Karin Patzke; nephew, J.R. Patzke; and endless family and friends who share their loving stories.

Cousins, Debbie Jones and Chuck Gura, will recite The Rosary at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14. We are comforted now that she is at peace in her Heavenly Garden.

Joyce L. Gann

Joyce L. Gann, age 80 of Austin, was surrounded by her family as she went home to the Lord on Nov. 8, 2016.

Joyce was born on July 24, 1936, to Vito and Lillie Riola.  She met the love of her life, Claude Lane Gann, and married on June 13, 1953.

She is survived by her son, David Gann of Austin; daughters, Claudia Gann, Dorothy Sauceda of Austin, Donna D'Amore and husband Greg of Thrall, and Dee Ann Riley and husband Jim of Round Rock; granddaughter, Ashley Sauceda of Austin, grandsons, James Riley II (Jimmie) of Liberty Hill, and David Riley and wife Meghan of Dripping Springs.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life Claude; her parents; and siblings, Charles and Frances.

Also a very special thanks to Tomeka Bryant for her care and companionship to her.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Austin.

Erna Marie Beale

Erna Marie Beale, 82, of Spring and formerly of Milam County died Friday, Nov. 4, in a Spring assisted living facility. 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs.  Beale was born March 24, 1934, in Milam County to Fritz and Annie (Meir) Senkel. She married Howard Beale and he preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 2016. 

She had worked as a banker for many years. She was a Lutheran. 

She is survived by her son, Randy Beale and wife Janice of Spring; two grandchildren, Rachel Hite and husband Tanner, and Dana Beale; and one great-grandchild, Harper Hite.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
