Marie Annette Hensley Koenig

Marie Annette Hensley Koenig passed away on Sunday, March 5, at Medical City Hospital in Dallas.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, at First Baptist Church Denton with Dr. John Beck officiating.  Interment will follow at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Argyle.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton.

Owen Rachel Booker Graves

Owen Rachel Booker Graves, 94, of Sharp, Texas, died on March 2, 2017. She was born in Ripley, Miss., on March 27, 1922, to Marie Reaves and Owen Thomas Booker. She was raised in Memphis, Tennessee. During World War II she worked as a draftsman for the US Army Corps of Engineers, preparing topographical maps and navigational charts of the Mississippi River.

In 1944 she married Capt. Rufus John Graves, then stationed in Memphis as a pilot with the US Army Air Corps, Air Transport Command. After the war ended, the couple settled in Sharp where they farmed and ranched.

Allen Lee Diver

Allen Lee Diver, 76, of Cameron died Saturday, March 4, in a Temple hospital. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Tim Cheatham officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Diver, a retired truck driver, was born Aug. 28, 1940, in Cameron to Vernon Lee and Martha Jo (Hairston) Diver. He married Juanita “Sue” Williams and she preceded him in death in 2003. He was a member of the Battetown Baptist Church. 

He was also preceded in death by his son Gene and by a brother Roger. 

He is survived by: sons, James Diver of Arlington, Doug Roach of Temple and Chris Diver of Cameron; daughters, Claydean Buchanan of Conroe, Lori Ann Dockall of Rockdale, Mary Hurst of Angleton and Cathy Wiggington of Holly Lake; brother, Eddie Diver of Rockdale; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Margie Lee Poldrack Posey

Margie Lee Poldrack Posey, 89, of Hutto, formerly of Thrall, passed away March 1, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Taylor to Alfred and Mary (Schwanke) Poldrack. She attended schools in Thrall, Taylor and Austin. She married Clarence Rayford Posey on May 1, 1947, by Pastor Herber at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Thrall. They shared many adventures together, including their two children, Billy Ray and Teresa Lee. 

She worked in various clothing stores including Gelman’s and finally Wal-Mart which she retired after over 20 years of service.  She spent her last years reorganizing her home and yard, travelling the US, and spoiling her grandkids.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son.

Nancy Ann Matyastik Mitchan

Nancy Ann Matyastik Mitchan, 77, of Clarkson died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, in a Temple hospital. 

Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Cheatham officiating. Burial will be in the Clarkson Cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. Mitchan was born Feb. 19, 1940, in Clarkson to John Albert and Gladys Marie (Miller) Matyastik. She graduated C.H. Yoe High School and then attended North Texas State in Denton. She worked as a teacher’s aide and for Royal Seating for many years. 

She is survived by: two sons, Michael Mitchan of Clarkson and Brian Mitchan of Clarkson.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Debra Kaye Scott

Debra Kaye Scott, 60, of Cameron, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at her home. 

Funeral services will be at noon, Saturday, March 4, at Cameron Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Ms. Scott was born May 29, 1956, in Cameron to Numon Melton and Jo Ethel Anderson. She worked for WilsonArt for 19 years. 

She is survived by: son, Tony Scott and wife Lisa of Cameron; daughters, Ebony Daniels and husband Charles of Cameron, Angela Scott of Cameron, and Adrian Scott of Cameron; sisters, Helen Robinson and husband Roy of Hearne, Willie B. Piper of Austin, and Linda Cooke of Cameron; and nine grandchildren.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Jackson Glen Huff

Jackson Glen Huff, 89, of Cameron died Saturday, Feb. 25, at his home. 

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Walker’s Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Mr. Huff, a retired registered professional engineer, was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Morgan County, Mo., to Elzie Lee and Odessa Pearl (Hopkins) Huff. He married Ruby Alice McPheeters on Feb. 23, 1947. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cameron. 

He is survived by: his wife, Ruby Huff of Cameron; sons, Jackson Lee Huff of Rockdale, Daniel Wayne Huff of Houston, Glenn David Huff of San Antonio and Perry Lane Huff of  Belton; brother, Dwight Huff of Louisiana; sister, Carol Jean James of Jefferson City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Virginia Alene Elkins

Mrs. Virginia Alene Elkins, 76, of Cameron, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23,in a College Station hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elkins will be Monday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Kathryn W. Green chapel of Green-Patterson funeral home, with Mark Miller and Gene VanNoord officiating. Interment will be in the Powers Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Elkins was born Sept. 24, 1940, in Andice, to Earl and Belva Threadgill Williams. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Cameron.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathy Miller and husband Mark of Ledbetter; one brother, Jim Williams and friend Joan of Belton; and three sisters, Betty McLerran and husband Russell of Cameron, Arlene Pouncy of Cameron and Linda Ashlock and husband Norman of Belton. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Alene Fay Bennett; one son, Donald Ray Elkins; and two sisters, Doris Ruley an Wilma Smith.

Jeanette Virginia Cogbill

Jeanette Virginia Cogbill, 98, passed away at Cameron Nursing and Rehab in Cameron on Feb. 25, 2017. 

She was born to William Abner and Lura Beatrice (Dark) Deal on Dec. 27, 1918, in Big Hill, Texas. She married Grover Isaac Cogbill on Feb. 12, 1939.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years and son, Jerry Lynn Cogbill Sr. 

She is survived by daughters, Joan Lavell Wise and husband Jerald, Peggy Virginia Ramey and fiancé Clayton Smith; and "adopted daughter" (niece) Patsy Ruth Nelms and husband Pack; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Jeanette graduated from high school in Waller, Texas, and later attended business school. She went to work for Alloy Fittings Corporation in Houston in her late 40s, as an executive secretary.

Geraldine Wolf

Geraldine (Gerry) Wolf, 95, of Cameron and formerly of Rosebud and Austin, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22, at a nursing facility in Cameron. 

Services were held Monday, Feb. 27, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Cameron.  Burial followed in Little River Cemetery near Jones Prairie. Visitation was held Sunday with a rosary recited at at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Gerry was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1921 to Ed and Margaret Norman.  After high school, she worked as an office assistant at Camp Carson near Colorado Springs.  It was there she met and married Mitchell Wolf where he was stationed before deploying to Europe during World War II.  They were married 62 years.
