Edward James Vondra Jr.

With broken hearts we announce our father, brother and uncle has put on his dancing shoes and is dancing with the Lover of his soul.

Edward James Vondra Jr. left this world of pain and confusion to return to his Home on Aug. 29, 2017. He is no longer in pain or confused and for that we are blessed. We will miss him dreadfully, but will continue to the legacy he left of love for others no matter color or creed, service to all who needed help and family comes first.

Isabella LeeAnn Burnett

Isabella LeeAnn Burnett, infant daughter of Heather M. Burnett, passed away on Aug. 26, 2017. 

Funeral services are Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Marek- Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Family visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Isabella was born on Aug. 3, 2017, and is preceded in death by great-grandmothers Altie “Bonnie” Burnett and Mary Downes.

Isabella is survived by: her mother, Heather Burnett of Cameron; sister, Emily Burnett of Cameron; grandparents, Doretha and Doyle Reed of Groesbeck and Mark Burnett of Cameron; great-grandparents, Henry Burnett of Cameron and Frank Downes of Marlin; and uncle, Shane Burnett of Cameron.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Bessie Lee "Bess" McDonald

Bessie Lee “Bess” McDonald, 88, of Cameron died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, in a Cameron nursing and rehab center. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the First Baptist Church in Cameron with Rev. Gary Maroney officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. 

Mrs. McDonald was born April 13, 1929, in the Briary Community to Jasper and Marie (May) Harve. She married Vance McDonald on Feb. 16, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1997. A homemaker, Mrs. McDonald and her husband had worked as house parents between 1979 and 1987 at the South Texas Children’s Home in Pettis, Texas.  Her husband preceded her in death in 1997.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron.

Willis M. (Buck) Kuhn

Willis M. (Buck) Kuhn, 94, passed away at his home in College Station on Aug. 19, 2017. He was born in Milam County on June 22, 1923, to Will and Anna (Schutze) Kuhn.

He married Flodene Folschinsky on Dec. 22, 1946. He attended school at Clarkson Community.  He was raised in the Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three loving daughters. He farmed and ranched all of his life in Milam County.  He also worked for Alcoa and retired after 16 ½ yrs of service. He ran the Chupik Surplus Store in Temple until it closed. He helped start the first nursing home in Cameron, along with other family members, and Winnie L. Nursing Facility.

Buck and Flodene moved to College Station 16 years ago.  Buck and Flodene opened up Pathways of Love Nursing Care in Bryan in 2016.

Mr. Kuhn was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah D. Posival.

Ann Taylor Doskocil

Ann Taylor Doskocil, 70, of Cameron died Saturday, Aug. 19, at her home. 

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Burlington. Burial followed in the St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 21, with a rosary.

Mrs. Doskocil, a homemaker, was born March 31, 1947, in Rosebud to Zachary Taylor and Della Angela (Haenisch) James. She married Lee Roy Doskocil and he preceded her in death. 

She was also preceded in death by son, Dennis Doskocil; daughters, Lee Ann Doskocil and Nicole Tepe; and by a granddaughter, Kristen Doskocil. 

She is survived by: sons, Chris Doskocil of Rosebud, Mark Doskocil of Rosebud and Josh Doskocil of Cameron; daughters, Wendy Doskocil of Austin, Megan Kuzel and husband Keith of Cameron, and Bethany Del Bosque and husband Ernest of Cameron; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and friends, including her two beloved dogs Coco and Churck

Leslie Joe Hodge

Graveside services for Leslie Joe Hodge, age 80, of Thorndale will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, in the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor with Hospice Chaplain Bruce Mercer officiating. There will be no visitation.

Leslie Joe Hodge was born Feb. 6, 1937, in Taylor to Bryant V. “Duck” and Evelyn (Jez) Hodge. He lived most of his life in Thorndale and worked as a machinist with Texas Instruments until his retirement in 1972. He had served in the National Guard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his family and friends.

He passed away early Monday morning, Aug. 21, 2017, in the Winnie L. Nursing Home in Cameron.  

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Britt Hodge on June 30, 2008; his father, Duck Hodge on Sept. 23, 2000; and his mother, Evelyn Hodge on Sept. 5, 2016.

James Davis Fuson Jr.

Mr. James Davis Fuson Jr., 68, of Cameron, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, at his residence.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m., at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron, with Pastor Wayne Vincent officiating.

Mr. Fuson was born April 24, 1949, in Baytown, to James Davis and Mary Yvonne (Hollingsworth) Fuson. He married Marie (Hutchins) Fuson. Mr. Fuson attended Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena. He worked in oil field construction and also owned and operated Jim’s Septic Service in Cameron. He was a Baptist.

Kathy Marie Price Worley

Kathy Marie Price Worley, 63, passed away in M.D. Anderson on Aug. 18, 2017, after a short illness. Kathy was the daughter of Jimmy and Frances Price.

She was born June 9, 1954, in Valdosta, Ga., at Moody Air Force Base. After her father was discharged, they returned to Cameron where Kathy attended school. She was in the Yoe High School Band. After graduation, she attended Blinn College. After college she went to work at The University of Texas in Austin in the Mechanical Engineering Department where she met and married her husband, Robert Worley. After retiring, they moved to Bayfield, Colo.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Robert of Bayfield, Colo.; her mother, Frances R. Price of Cameron; and one brother, Douglas Price of Cameron. She is also survived by two nieces, Jennifer Price and Lee Raby Worley, and one nephew Adam J. Price. Also surviving are four aunts and many friends.

Mateo "Joe" Cazares

Mateo “Joe” Cazares, 77, of Cameron died Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at his home.  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Visitation was held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Cazares, a retired ranch hand, was born Sept. 21, 1939, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Sebastian Cazares and Guadalupe Reyes. He married Janie Balboa and she preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Angelo Cazarez. 

He is survived by: sons, Tony Casarez of Buckholts and Mario Cazares of Cameron; daughters, Lupe Arellano of Plainview and Martha Cazarez of Cameron; brother, Jorge Cazares of Atlanta; sisters, Andrea Cazares of Mexico, Concepcion Cazares of Mexico, Juana Cazares of Mexico and Engracia Cazares of Mexico; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Judy Diane Ulicnik

Judy Diane Ulicnik, 60, of Rockdale died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, in a Temple hospital. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Chaplain Bruce Mercer officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery in Buckholts. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.

Ms. Ulicnik, a homemaker, was born Nov. 20, 1956, in Cameron to Calvin and Pearl Lee Josephine (Vybiral) Allison. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Ulicnik Jr.;  and by two sisters and a brother. 

She is survived by: sons, James Ulicnik, Jason Ulicnik; Justin Ulicnik, and Jeremy Ulicnik; sisters, Colleen Riley and Cindy Baker; and six grandchildren.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
