Bessie Lee "Bess" McDonald

Bessie Lee “Bess” McDonald, 88, of Cameron died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, in a Cameron nursing and rehab center. 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the First Baptist Church in Cameron with Rev. Gary Maroney officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. 

Mrs. McDonald was born April 13, 1929, in the Briary Community to Jasper and Marie (May) Harve. She married Vance McDonald on Feb. 16, 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1997. A homemaker, Mrs. McDonald and her husband had worked as house parents between 1979 and 1987 at the South Texas Children’s Home in Pettis, Texas.  Her husband preceded her in death in 1997.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cameron. 

She is survived by: daughters, Sandra West and husband Charlie of Cameron and Debbie Wallace and husband Joe of Cameron; sisters, Joyce Morgan of Cypress and Letha Howell of Mainsville, Ohio; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
