James Darrell Dove, 63, of Rockdale, died Saturday, May 19, 2018, in a Temple nursing facility. 

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. John Self.

Mr. Dove was born Aug. 31, 1954, in Waco to James Milton & Bessie (Williams) Dove.  He had worked in shipping and receiving.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Small.

He is survived by: his son, James Dove of Rockdale; his daughter, Melanie Dove Salomon and husband Lance of Rockdale; his sister, Verna Williams of Lott; and five grandchildren.

It is with great sadness that the family of Melvin Z. Provasek announces his passing.  

Melvin, age 94, died at the Westchase Atria Senior Living in Houston on May 18, 2018.  

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Melvin J. Provasek; daughter, Diane Dakil; grandchildren, Sarah Young, Angela Torres and Matthew Dakil. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Wilkinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.



Born and raised in Milam County, the son of Rudolph and Annie Provasek, he was a lifelong resident of Cameron and owner and operator of the local John Deere dealership. He truly relished his longtime friends in Cameron and enjoyed forming new friendships at the Atria where he resided for the last two years of his life.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Atria, especially his compassionate caregiver Liliana Arango and his friend and ambassador Stephen Guilliams.

L.W. Turner Jr. was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Cameron to Lester and Marietta Pool Turner. He attended Cameron schools and graduated from C.H. Yoe High School in 1947. 

He married Eugenia Olivia Walzel on June 10, 1950, in Cameron and they had two children Bob and Sara Jo.

Lynn Graham, 64, of Cameron died Thursday, May 17, 2018, in a Temple hospital. 

Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Marlow Cemetery near Cameron with Eugene VanNoord officiating.

Lynn, a homemaker, was born May 21, 1953, in Waco to E.G. and Mildred (Walter) Shelton. She married Thomas Carlyle Graham on June 12, 1971, and he preceded her in death in 2013. She was a member of the Cameron Church of Christ. 

She is survived by: daughters, Nikki Retzlaff and husband Billy of Rogers, and Kelli McDermott and husband Matthew of Cameron; son, Sgt. Shane Graham and wife Linda of Florida; mother, Mildred Pack of Cameron; brother, Stacy Shelton of Academy; sisters, Judy Sorenson of Rockdale, Joy Niles of Temple, Tammy Krenek of Rockdale, and Terri Luster of Cameron; and six grandchildren, Wesley, Wade, Alex, Sally, Sadie and Landon.

Leroy Sanders, 85, of Cameron, died Saturday, May 12, 2018, in a Temple hospital.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at the funeral home.

Mr. Sanders was born Jan. 6, 1933, in Cameron to Johnnie James and Emmer Etta Sanders. He had worked for General Electric for 38 years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. 

He is survived by: sons, Larry Sanders of McGregor and Terry Sanders of Arlington; daughter, Pam Savera of Haslet; sister, Betty Luckey of Temple; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

On Oct. 26, 1947, a child was born to Clarence and Dorothy Taylor. They named him Earnest Taylor. He would later become one of ten children, four girls and six boys. Being the second to the eldest in birth order placed an early responsibility on his life. At the age of 17, he recognized the need to step up to the plate and began working to supplement his mother’s income.

The lessons learned were invaluable. Through his difficult childhood, he soon realized that God had given him many special gifts, namely: leadership, discernment, and an insurmountable strength to overcome diversity. He served in the U. S. Army from April 16, 1968, to April 15, 1974.

Rev. Thomas Dusek, 84, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Cameron, passed from this world to his heavenly home on Friday, May 11, 2018.

Services for Rev. Dusek will be held Wednesday, May 16, at 10 a.m. in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home with Richard Crow officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.

Agnes Mayer McKittrick was born on Jan. 24, 1910, in Marak, Texas, to Vaclav Mayer and Vincencia Petru. She grew up on the farm in Milam County. She worked for Jack and Minnie Lewis for many years and remained close to the family. She worked at Camp Pendelton, California, when she met and married her husband Leslie McKittrick. After her retirement of 25 years, in 1970 they made their home in Cameron, where their garden and her pickles became a family and community legend. She loved people, her church, bingo, roses, crocheting, family and life in general.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband,  Leslie McKittrick. Also preceding her were her brothers, Vaclav Mayer, Rudolph Mayer, Joe Mayer, Charlie Mayer, Anton Mayer; and her sisters, Mary Kolodejeak, Matilda Pavelek, Vincie Junek, Adela Mayer, Ludmilla Mayer; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Castulo Trevino Jr., 90, of Houston, formerly of Cameron, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018, at his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. Trevino will be held Thursday, May 10, at 10 a.m. in the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron, with Frank Corona officiating. Burial will follow in the Hernandez Cemetery in Cameron.

Mr. Trevino was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Coldspring, to Castulo Sr. and Betty (Benavides) Trevino. He was a retired barber. Mr. Trevino was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include: his wife, Guadalupe Trevino of Houston; three sons, Castulo Trevino III, Guadalupe Trevino and Theodore Trevino, all of Houston; and two brothers, Reuben Trevino of Cameron and Johnny Trevino of Temple. He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Mr. Trevino was preceded in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters; and a daughter, Helen Trevino in 2006.

Glenn Arthur vonRosenberg was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Sharpe, Texas, to Arthur Julius vonRosenberg and Edna Lydia vonGonten vonRosenberg. Glenn attended school in neighboring Cameron where he excelled in academics and athletics. He attended Wharton County Junior College where he played football and baseball until the US Army intervened. Glenn proudly served his country in Panama where his duty allowed ample time for baseball and golf. Upon leaving the military, Glenn returned to Wharton to complete his baseball scholarship when a post-game encounter and kiss rocked his world.  Enter Barbara Jo Gries, the love of his life. Within months he was recruited by Coach “Bib” Faulk to play shortstop for the University of Texas.  He headed to Austin to study and play baseball.
