Nelson Ray Granzin

Nelson Ray Granzin was born June 12, 1937, in Thorndale.

He was called to the Lord on Feb. 27, 2018, at the age of 80.

He is survived by his loving children, Susan Lust and Rob and Suzanne Rice; his loving grandchildren, Olivia Lust and Katie and Brandon Stewart; his great-grandchild, Carson Stewart; and his sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Wilbert Schneider, of Elgin. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 20 years, Helen Granzin; and his parents, Emil and Esther Granzin.

Nelson was a veteran and retired from Featherlite Brick Company. During his lifetime, he enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, and spending time with his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. John Lutheran Church of Thrall or a charity of your choice.

Services will be held on March 12, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall.

Pamela Lorraine Beale

Pamela Lorraine Beale, 67, of Oklahoma, died Saturday, March 3, 2018, in Stillwater, Okla.

Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron.

Ms. Beale, was born Oct. 6, 1950, in Tulia, Texas, to C.D. and Martha Lou (Squyres) Beale. She retired as a school secretary. 

She is survived by: children, Christy Newport and husband Kenlan, Angela Freeman and husband Jimmy, and Chasen Roacher and wife Leanna; brother, Michael Beale and wife Maria; sister, Deanna Norris and husband Eddie; five grandchildren, Malorie Reynolds, Kennedy Freeman, Asher Newport, Adelynn Newport and Brooklynn Roacher.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.

Orlia Charles "Chip" Dunsmoor

Orlia Charles “Chip” Dunsmoor, 66, of Minerva, died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at his home.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Milam County Cowboy Church near Rockdale with Rev. Greg Spears officiating. Burial will follow in Minerva Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Jayla Na'Chelle Rider

Jayla Na’Chelle Rider, 10, of Cameron died Monday, Feb. 19, 2018,as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Earnest Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Jayla was born May 13, 2007, in Temple to Amanda Rider and William Wells. She was in the 5th grade at Cameron Elementary School. 

She is survived by: her mother, Amanda Wells of Cameron; her father, William Wells of Lubbock; brother, William Wells Jr. of Cameron; sisters, Alexis Wells of Cameron, Mariah Rider of Cameron, and Kierra Wells of Cameron; grandparents, Penny and Ricky Taylor of Cameron, Ron Rider of Rosebud, and James Wells of Cameron; great-grandparents, Mary Rider of Cameron, Louise Muston of Cameron, and William Alexander of Cameron; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins

Glennie Lee Laughlin

Glennie Lee Laughlin, 94, of Thorndale, passed away the morning of Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, in Austin after a short illness. 

Graveside services at Lawrence Chapel Cemetery will be held at 3 p.m. on Feb. 23, 2018, with Rev. Jeff Stull officiating. 

Glennie was born March 8, 1923, to Oscar William and Melissa Leonora Smith at their home in the Shiloh Community.  She and Jesse Kevil Laughlin were married on June 26, 1944.  They lived in Agua Dulce, and later moved to their home in Robstown. She worked for Nueces Electric Co-op until she retired. Glennie returned to the rural community are she was born and always loved. She enjoyed spending time outside tending to her plants and flowers. Paintbrushes and bluebonnets were her favorites.  Feeding and watching the native birds was another hobby of hers.  Most of all, she enjoyed the time she spent with family and friends.

Jerry Louis Kostroun Jr.

Jerry Louis Kostroun Jr., 76, of Cameron, died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, in a Waco hospital.

A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Marak with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Monica’s Church Cemetery in Cameron.  The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Barbara Marie Gavit  

Barbara Marie Gavit, 49, of Houston, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, in a Houston hospital. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m. at Moffat Cemetery in Bell County.

Ms. Gavit was born Oct. 24, 1968, in Austin, to Harvey and Lorene (Merkel) Gavit. She worked in the food service business. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include: biological daughters, Shanta Flow of Round Rock and Carla Flow of Rockdale; brother, Raymond Gavit of Hutto; and sisters, Helen Gavit of Rockdale and Deborah Flow of Rockdale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Payne; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12-1 p.m. at the cemetery.

Gayle Anne Szeredy

Memorial services for Gayle Anne Szeredy, 76, of Cameron will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Cameron. She died Feb. 1, 2018, in a Temple hospital.

Mrs. Szeredy was born Oct. 1, 1941 to David and Hazel (Hale) Stokesberry. She was a retired Executive secretary for Lockhead Martin. She married Walter Szeredy.

She is survived by: husband, Walter Szeredy of Cameron; son, Frank Szeredy of Lawton, Okla.; daughter, Helena Szeredy of Austin; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Dennis Kleppe Jr., 54, of Thorndale, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, at the Hill Country Bible Church in Hutto with Bobby Pruitt of Hutto Bible Church officiating.  Cremation to follow services. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Zughein Guadalupe Perez

Zughein Guadalupe Perez, infant daughter of Stephanie Saucedo and Joel Perez, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, in a Temple hospital. 

Graveside services were held on Monday, Feb. 12, at 3 p.m. at St. Monica’s Cemetery. A rosary was recited Monday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

Jughein is survived by: her father, Joel Perez, Jr. of Killeen; her mother, Stephanie Saucedo of Cameron; paternal grandmother, Rosario Trujillo of Killeen; paternal great-grandmother, Catalina of Carranco; maternal grandparents, Mirthala Saucedo of Cameron, and Jose Angel Saucedo of Cameron; and maternal great-grandparents, Juan Manuel Saucedo of Cameron, and Cruz Rioja of Cameron.
