Funeral service for John Douglas “Doug” Lewis, Jr., 89, of Houston, formerly of Buckholts, will be held at 9 a,.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron, with Rev. Billy Crow officiating.
Interment will follow at the Corinth Cemetery near Buckholts with full military honors.
Mr. Lewis died Sept. 1, at his home following an illness. He was a retired machinist in the oil field industry.
Mr. Lewis was born Aug. 22, 1926 to J. D. Sr. and Ida Belle Peters Lewis in Buckholts.
He graduated from C. H. Yoe High School in 1943. He proudly served in WWII in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Benge Lewis, one son, Paul Lewis of Houston and one daughter, Lori Pettett and husband, Robert, of Freeport; one sister, Dorothy Gause of Gause. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Pamela, Derek and Lisa Lewis and Chase, Aubrey and Sydney (Peanut) Pettett.
