JOHN EDWIN DUSEK, JR.

John Edwin Dusek, Jr. of Katy was born on Feb. 23, 1929 in Caldwell, Burleson County. He was the son of the deceased J Edwin and Bertha Autrey Dusek of Cameron. He died on July 26, 2015 of congestive heart failure in Houston Methodist St. Catherine Hospital with his family by his side. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 serving on the USS Atlas on the West Coast. His father worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and they lived in many small Texas towns, finally settling in Cameron where he was a graduate of Yoe High School and then the University of Houston. He worked for 11 years for CB Southern and retired from Waukesha Pearce Industries in 2009 after 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby Vigneaux Dusek; his two children, Elizabeth Keng (Dudley) of Houston, and John E. Dusek III (Tammy) of McKinney, TX; and by five grandchildren, Nicholas Keng of Orange, Megan and Maggie Keng of Houston, Brittany and Ryan Dusek of McKinney. He is also survived by his siblings, Anita Hoelscher of Killeen, Eugene Dusek of San Diego, and Jacqueline Brashear of Cameron. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy with Chaplain Herbert Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
