Edna Marie Mueck Wendt

Edna Marie Mueck Wendt, 84, of Crawford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, March 9, 2019. 

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Crawford. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Cole Funeral Home in McGregor.

Mrs. Wendt was born in Cameron on March 12, 1934, to Reinhold Mueck and Louise Nittman Mueck. She grew up in Cameron and along with her twin brother, Edwin, was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Cameron Yoe High School in 1951 and moved to Houston where she worked at Port City State Bank for many years.

Edna moved from Houston to the Waco area and she continued to work in banking.  She was passionate about country and western music and dancing.  At a dance, she met John Louis Wendt and they married in November 1969. They were married until his death in 1995.  They were members of Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor for many years. After marriage, Edna became a homemaker, a mother, and she ran the family farm. Edna loved life on the farm. She would count her cattle daily and kept detailed records of everything pertaining to the farm. She was an avid gardener and had an extensive vegetable garden every year to prove it.  Edna was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. She was a strong wife and mother and had a special relationship with her grandson, Lanie.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John Louis Wendt; her parents; sisters, Lillian Horelica, Elenora Mueck, Rita Hlavack; and brother, Paul Mueck.

Mrs. Wendt is survived by her daughter, Lisa Wendt Fisher and husband Mark of Crawford; son, Mark of Waco; grandsons, Lanie Fisher of Crawford, John Wendt of Waco, and Dillon Wendt of Waco; brothers, Bill Mueck of Cameron, and Edwin “Yack” Mueck and wife Dorothy of Cameron; sisters-in-law, Rosalie Mueck of Cameron, and Adeline Mueck of Temple; brother-in-law, Doug Wendt of Joshua; best friend Dottie White of Lewisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Westview Manor for their loving care, during the past six and a half years, and a special thank you to Bonnie Krause.
