Floyd Steele Cooley

Floyd Steele Cooley, age 66, died peacefully in his sleep on June 23, 2018, at his vacation home in Jasper, Ark.

Steele was born on the Feb. 28, 1952, to parents Bennie and Floyd Cooley of Maud, Texas. He married his wife, Marion Cooley, on the July 16, 1977. He was a charter member of the Kappa Sigma Lambdau Tau Fraternity at Baylor University. He retired from work as the Technology Director at Cameron ISD in 2008, and previously made a living as a high school history teacher, home builder, and cattle rancher.

He very much enjoyed offshore fishing, cars, UFOlogy, tending his apple orchard, and most recently, the company of his granddaughter, Charlotte. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Cooley of Cameron; son and daughter-in-law, Colin and Tara Cooley of New Braunfels; granddaughter, Charlotte Cooley of New Braunfels; and brother, Greg Cooley of Fort Worth.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery at a later time. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
