Week 10 Football Outlooks

Troy (3-5/2-2) Vs. Cameron Yoe (3-6/2-3)
With this being the final regular season game for the Yoemen, there is simply one thing I will be looking for - total domination. Cameron must win this game by 7 points to get into the playoffs, but if this team is looking to go places once getting there, they really need to look very sharp in this final tune up. On offense, the line needs to open up holes for the running game and give Andress time to throw. A running back will have to step up and put up a quality performance, and multiple receivers need to make their impact felt. On defense, the line must disrupt things up front and linebackers must come up with big tackles against what is more of a run-heavy offense. This team has the talent to make all of this happen, and there is no better time to start firing on all cylinders than on senior night.
Josh’s Pick: Cameron Yoe by 28+
Around Milam County
Calvert (7-1/1-0) Vs. Buckholts (6-2/1-0)
This game should more than likely decide the district championship. Calvert is going to enter this game as the heavy favorites, but we will see if the Badgers can keep this one close. The Trojans did get shoutout in one half of play versus defending state champ Borden County (62-0), which was a team they actually beat last year by two points. The main concern for Buckholts is the strength of schedule and how that may come into play in this game.
Josh’s Pick: Calvert by 21.
Snook (2-5/1-2) Vs. Milano (7-1/2-1)
Milano’s comeback over Burton fell just short last week, 36-31. That is most certainly a tough loss to swallow, but this is no time to have a down game with the playoffs just around the corner. Snook has an outside shot at getting themselves into the postseason, but this is simply a game that Milano should dominate from start to finish.
Josh’s Pick: Milano by 28+
Thorndale (2-6/1-2) Vs. Rosebud-Lott (6-3/1-2)
It’s very simple for Thorndale in this game. A win means that you are going to have a good shot at making the playoffs. A loss means the opposite. Thrall, which is 3-0 in district, is up next week. This is undoubtedly the more winnable game.
Josh’s Pick: Rosebud-Lott by 10.
Around 10-3A
Rockdale (6-2/4-0) Vs. Franklin (6-2/4-0)
This is the biggest game in 3A DI this week as the district championship will be decided. Franklin has lost only one home game in their last 27 contests and that was to Cameron last season. You really have two contrasting offensive styles, with more speed and big play ability
from Rockdale, while the Lions are going to grind out drives with the slot-t. The key for Franklin will simply be to eliminate big plays. If they can do that and keep that Rockdale defense on the field a good portion of the game, they will have a chance to pull this one out. This will also be a very big test for the Rockdale offensive line as Franklin is pretty stout up front.
Josh’s Pick: Rockdale by 3.
Little River Academy (3-5/1-3) Vs. McGregor (4-4/2-2)
For Academy, it’s due or die at this point of the season. The Bees must defeat McGregor this week and Franklin next week to even have a shot at getting into the postseason. For that to happen, the offensive line must play very well in these two games. The Bees simply do not have the personnel to throw the ball.
Josh’s Pick: McGregor by 28.
Around the State
Malakoff (8-0/5-0) Vs. Teague (6-2/4-1)
This would be the second biggest game in 3A DI this week. These teams have played some excellent football games as of late, and this one could also go down to the wire. In general, I don’t believe either one of these teams are quite as strong as they were a year ago. Malakoff is undefeated but a lot of those results are much closer this season. Teague has already lost to West and has been up and down most of the year. The only way Malakoff does not finish as the number one seed in this district is if Teague were to win by 13.
Josh’s Pick: Malakoff by 14.
