Lady Yoe drops matches to Lexington and Rogers

The Cameron Lady Yoe are in the midst of a rough patch in their season.  Continuing into 20-3A play last Friday, Cameron had lost three consecutive district matches without taking a set.  The ladies appear to still be in a bit of a funk, with losses to Lexington (0-3) on Friday and district leading Rogers on Tuesday (0-3) to extend the streak to 15 straight sets.  The ladies still have 6 more district matches to start something up and build momentum.

“We still have some games and we can compete and fight for a spot,” said Cameron coach Kamol Nohe.  “We just have to get the kids focused and ready to play.”

Cameron will host Franklin on Friday (4:30) before traveling to Hearne on Tuesday (5:00).

For junior high volleyball, the 7th grade teams both picked up dramatic wins over Academy on Monday.  The 7th grade B team won in three sets (25-22, 16-25, 20-19) and the 7th A team took home the win (25-22, 17-25, 15-13).  Both the 8th grade B (11-25, 9-25) and 8th grade A (17-25, 21-25) suffered tough losses.  

Cameron Cross Country Meet Results

The Cameron Invitational cross country meet was once again a major success, as hundreds of competitors from schools all across the area where in attendance.  Both junior high and high school level competition took place.  

For the boys, no runners competed at the varsity level, but a pair did for the JV, with Joseph Munoz (25th, 22:11.6) and Antonio (42nd, 26:13.0) running.  Cameron did have nine boys compete at the younger level: Adam Cardona (26th, 13:51.9), Joseph Barbo (62nd, 15:11.1), Johnathan Clouse (77th, 15:51.5), Colton Barbo (83rd, 16:11.2), Hayden Ross (89th, 16:19.9), Logan Cole (100th, 16:48.5), Fernando Tapia (104th, 16:58.6), Stedman Elliott (106th, 17:22.4), Thomas Pelzel (116th, 18:52.4).  A total of 128 runners competed in the junior high boys division.  

For the girls, three runners did compete at the varsity level, with Daisey Osorio (24th, 14:43.2), Daniela Bustamante (40th, 15:22.6) and Eliza Garza (42nd, 15:34.6) all posting respectable finishes in the field of 72 runners.

Three more girls ran in the JV division: Rosa Valles (9th, 16:40.0), Courtney Muniz (28th, 21:26.3), Ana Bowman (29th, 21:30.0).

Logan Pevehouse (24th, 15:40.0) posted a strong finish in a field of 146 junior high runners.

Youth soccer in full swing

Approximately 250 kids from Cameron and Gause are participating in the Cameron Youth Soccer Association Fall season. Games were in Cameron this past Saturday after opening in Gause the previous weekend. Games will be back in Gause this coming weekend with games returning to Cameron October 14th and 28th. Dig Pink events scheduled

The Lady Yoe Volleyball team will be hosting the 8th Annual Dig Pink Fundraiser this month. All proceeds from the event are donated to Breast Cancer research.

Through October, the Dig Pink Festivities will begin. T-shirts are on sale through Tuesday. T-shirts are pre-order, pre-pay, $15 cash only.  You can order your shirt from any Lady Yoe Volleyball Player or Coach.  On Oct. 17, join the Lady Yoe as they host the Dig Pink game at Yoe Gym. During the game, there will be a silent auction, a raffle, pink treats, and more. Those that attend are also asked to wear pink. In the past seven years, the ladies have raised over $59,000 for Breast Cancer Research.

Football AP Poll

With the shocking loss to McGregor this past week, the Cameron Yoemen are now just hanging on in the latest AP poll.  Cameron began the season as the overwhelming number one team, but four straight losses have the Yoemen down to just one vote, or 23rd.
