Elvira "Sissy" Hulsey

Elvira “Sissy” Hulsey, 86, of Thorndale, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017, in the Granger Villa in Granger.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, in the Taylor City Cemetery in Taylor. Visitation will also be Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Elvira Hulsey, lovingly known as “Sissy” was born Dec. 7, 1930, to Henry Richard Arnold and Annie Bertha (Remmert) Moehnke. Sissy was a restaurant owner and operator and in her quite time she loved to read western novels. She and Weldon Earl Hulsey were married until his death.

Sissy is preceded in death by her father, on Aug. 3, 1962; her mother on May 28, 1981; her husband on August 20, 1998; three brothers, Bennie Ray Moehnke, Glen Roy Moehnke and Carl Moehnke; and two sisters, Dorothy Drozd and Bernice Jrline Hollowell.

Surviving are a brother, Kenneth Moehnke and wife Mary of Port Lavaca; and sister-in-law, Monica Moehnke of Burk Burnet; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
