William Carroll Davidson

Mr. William Carroll Davidson, 81, of Milano, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017, in a Temple hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Davidson will be held Saturday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at the Kathryn W. Green Chapel of Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Cameron, with Rev. Fred Hornaday officiating.  Burial will follow at the Liberty Cemetery.

Mr. Davidson was born June 10, 1935, in Cameron, to William Jennings and Bertha (Hughes) Davidson. He graduated from Milano High School in 1954, where he was an avid athletic booster until his death. He married JoAnn Miller. She survives. He served on the Milano ISD school board for 25 years. Mr. Davidson retired from Alcoa after 32 years of service with them.  He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Caldwell, where he served as a deacon and was the song leader.  Mr. Davidson will fondly be remembered as the rock of his family for his children and his grandchildren. He was also a master “42” player.

Survivors include: his wife, JoAnn Davidson of Milano; son, William Kirkland Davidson and wife Jeana of Midland; daughters, Vanessa Stracener and husband Mike of Caldwell, Wanda Downey and Shawnaree Davidson, both of Milano; also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennifer and Andy Fletcher, Chasity Downey, Lacey Davidson, Cody and Sarah Davidson, Courtney and James Todd and Allie Stracener.  He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Mattie, Gus, Jayce, Paden, Callie, Bailey and Jaxon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Henry, John and Gail Davidson; three sisters, Fettie Lee Gaston, Billie Weathers and Betty Silvey; and one grandson, Glenn David Downey II.

Visitation for the family will be held Friday, April 7, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
