Clarence Larmon Cheshier

Clarence Larmon Cheshier, 86 years young, went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, March 11, 2017.

Born April 17, 1930, in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Horace Burns and Juanita Ethetton Cheshier.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron. Burial will be 3 p.m. at Laurel Land Cemetery in Fort Worth. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

He was a Godly, passionate and caring man. And, dedicated his life to his faith, family and friends.

He graduated from Technical High School in 1948 where he was Class President and Captain of the football team. After graduation he attended TCU and served in the Naval Reserve. 

In the early 50’s, he began a career spanning over 45 years, in the telecommunication industry. 

Which included management and executive positions with Southwestern Bell, Centel and Mid-TexasTelecommunications. Later, he started his own Telecommunications Consulting Firm.

Eventually, owning his own long-distance telephone company.

He served as President of the Board of Directors at Hillside-Memorial Christian Church.

He was General Manager of the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show in the 60’s and 70’s.

Later, he realized his life-long dream of owning a ranch and being a full time cattleman.

He realized that dream with his wife Gail. Blessed with a second chance on love, they began dating in 1983 and married in 1985.

Clarence and Gail lived in Austin and in 2000 retired to Cameron.    

They started Cheshier Angus Farm in 2002 and began raising registered Angus cattle.

They both became active and involved members of the Texas Angus Association and were inducted to the Texas Angus Hall of Fame in 2015.
For several years, Clarence passionately and tirelessly dedicated his time and talents serving on the Board of Directors and various committees.  He was responsible for implementing many of the online services Texas Angus Association members enjoy today.

Clarence is preceded in death by his son, Clifton Wayne Cheshier; father, Horace Burns Cheshier; mother, Juanita Ethetton Cheshier; and sister, Maxine Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Cheshier; son, Richard Cheshier Sr. of Boerne; daughter, Carla Calfee and husband David of Humble; son, Phillip Cheshier and wife Linda of Boerne;s step-daughter Melinda Suggs and her husband JJ Garza of Dallas; and step-son Troy Lovell of Odessa.

Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends also survive.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grace Church in Cameron or Texas Junior Angus Scholarship Fund.
