Five file for City Council positions, four for CISD school board

Filing has started for the May 6 city and school elections. Four city council places and two school board positions are up for grabs in Cameron.

According to City Secretary Amy Harris, five people have filed for places on the city ballot. 

Incumbents Melissa Williams, At-Large, Robert Davis, Ward 3, and Vergie Hardeman, Ward 5, have filed for their current places on the council. Daniel Willie has filed for Ward 1 on the council, currently held by Maurice Goza. Mirl Forrest has filed for Ward 5.

Anyone wishing to run can stop by City Hall at 100 South Houston Avenue and pick up information.

Positions held by James Burks and Daniel Willie are up for election. Incumbent James Burks has filed for re-election.  Robert Welsh, Roy Martinez, and Jenny Gebhart have also filed to run.

Anyone wishing to file can go by the Cameron ISD Administration Building at 304 E. 12th Street from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to pick up the necessary paperwork.

 

Buckholts

Four places on the Buckholts ISD school board are also up for election May 6.

Full term positions held by Edwin Peeler, Samantha Marrs and Leslie Lorenz and an unexpired term held by Margaret Green.

Leslie Lorenz, Lucy Hernandez and Kerri Hernandez have filed for the three full term positions.

Anyone wishing to file for BISD can stop by the Buckholts ISD Administration at 203 South 10th Street.

You can file for all races until Feb. 17.
