Employment picture brightens

While the current jobless rate is higher than last month, Milam County’s overall employment picture is still brighter than last year, according to Texas Workforce Commission monthly figures. Milam County’s June employment rate of 5.3 percent is slightly higher than May’s 4.8 percent, but it is significantly better than last year when the unemployment rate was 6.8 percent. The TWC estimates the Milam County labor force at 10,199 workers with 9,662 currently employed and 537 looking for work.
