Heaven gained a glorious angel on March 29 when Lou Mae (Lou) Templin Wallis, 86, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at her home in Austin. She was a long-time resident of Cameron prior to moving to Austin.
She had a passion for sweets, loved cooking for her family and friends and watching her grandkids and great-grandkids sporting events. She was known by all the kids as ‘Granny’ and they were her heart and joy. She spent many years as a waitress and then retired from TU Electric. Her sweet and loving heart endeared her to all who touched her life and she will be remembered for the kind and compassionate person she was.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 21 years, Russell Wallis, who she adored; along with her children. Larry Ingram of Newport Beach, Calif., Mike Ingram and wife Melinda of Pampa, Debbie Johnston and husband Chris of Austin, Rusty Wallis and wife Jodi of San Diego, Calif., and Paulette Pendley and husband Larry of Waco; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rhinehart and Eva Lois Templin; brothers, George Templin and John Templin; along with John and Ollie Mae Simmons, her aunt and uncle who raised her after her mother died at a young age.
Visitation will be at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home at 2800 North Travis in Cameron on Monday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron
