Seniors from across the county are invited on Oct. 10 to the Milam County Triad Senior Expo. This is a free event open to the public.
The event will be held at the VFW located outside of Cameron on SH 36. Doors will be open at 8 a.m. for glucose screening and the Expo will run until 12 p.m. This event will provide seniors and their families with information on a variety of services and products available in and around Milam County.
“We were excited to be back in Cameron for the Senior Expo this year,” says event coordinator Michelle Morgan. “We are hoping to provide vital information to the seniors and their families in the area in regards to medical, financial and safety issues that senior citizens face on a day to day basis. There are a number of programs and services available to seniors, and we want to bring them all together under one roof for one day.”
Free medical screenings will be a huge part of this event. A number of organizations will be on hand to provide free screenings for glucose, blood pressure, and vision. Participants will also have an opportunity to receive flu vaccines.
There will also be speakers throughout the day. Topics to be covered will include financial investments, and Medicare enrollment. New this year will be medication destruction. Seniors can bring in old medications in their original container for destruction.
Vendors will be on hand to answer questions and distribute information on programs and services including home health, medical equipment, long term care, in-patient rehabilitation, Medicare, Medicaid, hospice, financial planning, Veteran Services and much more. Many of the vendors will have free gifts and samples for those attending the Expo. All guests will be able to register for door prizes donated by the vendors. Guests will register as they enter the Expo. All winners must be present. Drawings will begin approximately 9 a.m. and will continue throughout the day.
“We are excited about the return of this event to Milam County,” said Morgan. The cooperative efforts of several business and lots of individuals will hopefully provide Milam County seniors with an abundance of helpful information.”
Businesses and organizations wishing to register for a booth at the event can do so for free on Facebook page Milam County Triad Senior Expo. Simply complete the Vendor Info Google Doc form and submit.
