Robert Fontaine Jones, 81, of Cameron passed from this life to his Heavenly home on June 11, 2018, in a Temple hospital with family and friends supporting him.
A celebration of his life will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Marlow Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Kirk officiating. Interment will follow in the Marlow Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.
Robert was born May 6, 1937, in Jones Prairie Texas to George W. and Florence (Parker) Jones. He proudly served in the United States Army in the 1960’s stationed in Germany. He retired from Alcoa after more than 37 years. He married Betty Johnson on March 16, 1992. He was a member of Marlow Baptist Church where he had many friends whom he loved dearly and were a huge part of his life.
Robert loved living in the country. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved his wife and his sons deeply. He will be remembered as a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Robert was preceded in death by George W. Jones, father; Florence Parker Jones, mother; Billy Joe Jones, brother; and George Wade Jones, brother.
Robert is survived by his wife, Betty Johnson Jones of Cameron; sons, Robert Wayne Jones and wife Trisha of Milano, Russell Clay Jones and wife Michelle of Houston, Michael Fontaine Jones of Austin and James Lance Butt Jr. of Leander; a sister, Mary Jones Weaks and husband Jay of Temple; grandchildren, Robert Joshua Jones, Preston Cade Gordon, Lily Kate Jones, Ashley Nicole Jones, Sarah Jones, C.J. Jones, Alyssa Jones, Kelsey Michelle Lewallen and Kaleb Allen Butt; and great-grandchild Ryann Parvati Lewallen.
Memorials may be made to Marlow Baptist Church W.M.U., St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital.
