Etna Kathleen (Gann) Jurca

On Friday, April 20, 2018, the last of a generation has completed its journey on earth, and ascended to Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior. Etna Kathleen (Gann) Jurca was the last of a family generation of seven children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David Charles and Lela Viola (Cosby) Gann; also brothers, W.T., Charles, Buren, and Lane; and sisters, Thelma Mae Groppel and Eula Helen Belcher. 

Kathleen finished her journey on earth at the age of 101. She was a native Texas, born April 18, 1917, in Maysfield, and lived all her life in Milam County. On April 15, 1942, she married the love of her life, Adolph Benjamin Jurca Sr., who preceded her in death on Friday, April 20, 1979, exactly 39 years to the day of her passing. 

Kathleen was a devoted housewife and farmer’s wife that worked side by side with her husband on the family farm in Buckholts. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook. Her kolaches were some of the best. Her home was always a gathering place for all of the family, which meant so much to her.

Kathleen was a long-time member of the Buckholts Brethren Church and Christian Sisters.

She is survived by: three children, Adolph Benjamin Jurca Jr. of Buckholts, Della Beatrice Startz and husband Andy of Victoria and John David Jurca and wife Lola of Buckholts; by nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with Rev. Johnny Kueker and Chaplain Bruce Mercer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in the Corinth Cemetery near Buckholts.

Her family would like to thank the caregivers at Winnie L Nursing Facility and Kindred Hospice for taking care of her during the later years of Life.
