Cameron Christmas Parade
Its a “Candyland Christmas” in historic downtown Cameron for our annual Christmas Parade. See the historic downtown square, Museum, Old Town Cameron and Historic Jail. Enjoy dinner at the food trucks and booths, listen to live music with carolers singing favorite Christmas Songs, while shopping at artist and vendors booths. Festivities start at 6 p.m. with parade at 6:30 p.m. What a great way to recapture your childhood Christmas spirits with lights, music, floats and Santa. Have your picture taken with Santa at the Old Town Cameron Miniature and bring your “Letter to Santa” to be placed in the special mailbox to be sent to the North Pole. Watch the Polar Express Train run thru the miniuture Old Town Cameron and meet the Conductor and sip on some Hot Chocolate.
Lunch Bunch
The Lunch Bunch will meet on Thursday, Dec. 7, at noon at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center in Cameron. A program of Christmas music should get everyone attending in the true spirit of Christmas. The public is invited to attend. Bring a food dish to share for the lunch at noon.
A Night With Christmas Grace
Grace Church in Cameron is having A Night With Christmas Grace. This is a community free event on Dec. 9. The night will include Horse and Buggy Rides from 5-9 p.m. through Christmas lights around the church with Christmas music and complimentary hot chocolate and cookies. Inside the gym, there will be free games with gifts along with Creative Christmas activities for the kids till the Christmas Movie “Polar Express” starts at 7 p.m. with fresh popcorn and lemonade. Everyone is invited to attend. Grace Church is located 808 W. 16th Street in Cameron.
Melissa Ward-Garza Benefit
A benefit will for Melissa Ward-Garza will be held on Dec. 10 at Bea’s Kitchen in Cameron. Barbecue plates and a silent auction. All proceeds will aid in Melissa’s medical costs and lost income while fighting cancer. For details call Christi Leitzke at (254) 721-2508 or Jennifer Price at (254) 482-2933.
The Erwin’s In Concert
Marlow Baptist Church in Cameron will host The Erwin’s in Concert on Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. and at Sunday Worship Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m.
Our Lady of the Guadalupe Celebration
St. Matthew Catholic Church in Rogers is holding their annual Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Rogers High School Cafeteria. At 11 a.m. a Mexican Plate meal with chicken fajita and all the trimmings for $10, and Menudo with tea and dessert for $6 a bowl will be served until sold out. Entertainment includes The Danza Group, St. Matthew’s Children’s Choir singing songs to the Virgin Mary and a children’s movie of The Virgin’s appearance to Juan Diego. Mexican Loteria (Bingo), a bake & craft sale and raffle drawings will also be held.
Holiday Market
Rosebud-Lott PTO will host its Holiday Market Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rosebud-Lott High School, 1789 Highway 77. Pictures with Santa and cookie with Mrs. Claus. Admission is $5.
Library Open House
The Cameron Public Library will host a Christmas Open House on Monday, Dec.11, from 5-7 p.m. Drop in for a few minutes for music, snacks, and fellowship with friends. There will be crafts for the children.
Tree of Angels
The Milam County and District Attorney’s Office will sponsor the Tree of Angels ceremony Monday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m., at the Milam County Museum located at 112 West First Street in downtown Cameron. Participants are asked to bring an angel ornament tagged with the first and last name of the person to be remembered or honored. Historical Commission
The Milam County Historical Commission will hold its bi-monthly meeting on Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. at Marlow Baptist Church, located east of Cameron. There will be a business meeting followed by a program presented on the history of the church. Guests are always welcome. For any questions, contact Beth Brooks at (512) 213-8108.
ALCOA retirees
The next meeting of the ALCOA Retirees-Rockdale will be Thursday, Dec. 14. This will be the Christmas meeting. Set up is a little earlier. Set up starts at 3 p.m. Volunteers are needed. Doors open at 5 p.m. A short business meeting begins at 5:45. Meal at 6. The meeting will be held at the Lake Training Center. No gift exchange. Retirees are asked to bring canned goods.
