Volleyball drops pair to Jarrell and Academy

After winning back-to-back district matches for the first time in a couple of years, the Lady Yoe’s hot streak has come to an end. Cameron dropped 3-0 decisions to playoff hopefuls Jarrell and Academy this past week to slip down to 3-9 In 20-3A action.

Texas High School Basketball Rankings

With the 2017-2018 high school basketball season set to open in the coming weeks, the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) has released their preseason polls. Thorndale, a consistent power in 2A basketball, is expected to compete for a state championship this season with the number two ranking in the state behind Tenaha. In 3A, the Jarrell Cougars are also expected to make a deep playoff run and return to state, coming in a number two. No other team from 20-3A is mentioned.

Sub-Varsity Football Report

Things are looking bright for the future of Yoe football as the 7th grade through JV has a combined record of 19-4-1 this season. The JV is leading the pack with a perfect 7-0 mark on the year. The freshmen are not far behind at 6-1, but have lost to rival Rockdale. The freshmen will have a chance to avenge that loss tonight at Rockdale in their second game. The 7th grade (3-1-1) and 8th grade (3-2) will be hosting Rockdale from Yoe Field starting at 5:00 p.m.

 

Junior High Volleyball Scores Versus Franklin

7B lost in two sets: 20-25 and 15-25; 8B lost in two sets: 10-25 and 13-25; 7A was victorious over Franklin in an exciting three sets: 25-21, 22-25, and 15-9; 8A lost in two sets: 8-25 and 17-25.
