The Thorndale Lady Dogs (22-6, 8-2) finished up their district schedule on Tuesday night with a 74-28 win over Milano (16-9, 6-4).  The Lady Dogs will represent 25-2A as the second place team, finishing behind Holland.  Milano will be the third place squad.  Thrall and Granger are battling it out for that fourth and final playoff spot.

There was never really a challenge from Milano, as the Lady Dogs led 34-14 by halftime.

Four Thorndale players scored in double-figures, led by Elise Biar and Kylie Buchanan with 15 points each.  Peyton Anastas added 13 and twin sister Presley scored 11.

Blair McDaniel collected eight points on the night and Madison Smith scored five.  Anjelica Avalos, who was honored before the final home game as the team’s lone senior on the roster, scored three points in her final game at Bulldog Gym.  Jordyne Smith and Caitlin Garcia scored two points each.

The Lady Dogs’ bi-district playoff opponent will most likely be Somerville from 26-2A.  That first round postseason game had not been scheduled at Champion press time.

In its final road trip game of the regular season, Thorndale defeated Granger 48-10 on Friday.

The Lady Dogs held the Lady Lions scoreless in the first quarter and were up 28-4 by halftime.

Buchanan scored 18 points to lead Thorndale, followed by a 13-point performance from Peyton Anastas.

Presley Anastas recorded seven points, with Blair McDaniel adding six and Madison Smith four.

The Lady Dogs did struggle a bit from the free throw line, hitting just 10 of 27 shots at the charity stripe.

The Lady Dogs will face Somerville in the bi-district round of playoffs. They will play at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Manor High School. Located at 12700 Gregg Manor Rd, Manor, TX 78653.
