Valentine’s Dance

St. Monica’s Catholic Church will host a Valentine’s Dance on Friday, Feb. 10, from 8 p.m. to midnight at Simon George Hall, 306 S. Nolan Avenue in Cameron. Music by DJ Luis with Tejano, Polka, Country, Norteno, Cumbias and more. BYOB, concession stand available. Tickets are $5. Ages 10 and under are free.

 

Milano VFD Fundraiser

The Milano Volunteer Fire Department has begun its annual fundraiser. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.  Drawing will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the MVFD’s annual chili supper.  You need not be present to win. All prizes received in Academy gift cards. Prizes are: Henry Golden Boy 22 LR, two Taurus Public Defender .45/410, Henry Golden 22 Cal. LR, Remington 700.270, Marlin 336W 30-30, Remington 870 Shotgun, Ruger American Bolt Action 22LR, Mossberg 817 17 HMR and $100 Academy gift card.  Contact any MVFD member to buy tickets. 

 

MVFD Chili Supper

The annual MVFD chili supper will be held at the fire station on Saturday, Feb 18. There will be a live band, along with live and silent auctions. Serving of food will begin at 4:30 p.m. until sold out - eat in or carry out. Prices are $8 for adults, $4 for age 12 and under and two years and under eat free. Meal costs include drink and dessert.

 

Opening Day at The Yards

Opening Day at The Yards of Cameron will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 18. Activities include: Run the Bases, Farmer’s Market, Wiffle Ball Tournament, Home Run Derby, CH Yoe High Alumni Game, Brian Weaks Music in Founders Hall, Farmer’s Market 1st Pitch, Family Fun & Fitness Body Toning and Kite Flying.

 

Fish Fry

San Andres Lodge #170 will host a Fish Fry on Feb. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Bea’s Kitchen, 101 E. Main in Cameron. Tickets are $8 in advance and at the door and can be purchased at True Value, Cameron Chiropractic Clinic or from any Cameron Mason. Silent auction also. Benefits Academic Assistance Grant for Cameron ISD.

 

Mardi Gras Bash

The 5th annual Mardi Gras bash will be held Saturday, Feb. 25,  at Simon George Hall, 401 S. Karnes, in Cameron. The event, which will start at 6 p.m., will include a Cajun food dinner, auctions and activities for the kids. Adult tickets are $10 and children under 18 are $5. If you would like to donate items for this year’s event please e-mail cholcombememorial@gmail.com with a description or donations can be dropped off at Ideal Poultry in Cameron. All the funds raised at the Mardi Gras bash support the Chris Holcombe Memorial Scholarship Fund. Since inception $53,000 in scholarships have been awarded to Milam county college students.

 

Youth Banquet

Join on Saturday, Feb. 25, for the first Youth Banquet at VFW Post 2010, 1129 Highway 36 in Cameron. The theme is Encouraging, Supporting and Praying for Our Youth in Such a Time as This. Begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $5. Sponsored by Seeds of Love and Pearls of Wisdom Ministry, coordinator Myrtle L. Johnson and Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. TACOS AND TECHNOLOGY​

Cameron Junior High and Yoe High School will host Tacos and Technology Feb. 27 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Cameron Yoe High cafeteria. ​Stroll through our students’ interesting and inspiring technology projects while enjoying a delicious taco. Come and see how technology tools are being used to enhance and expand our students’ worlds.

 

Cameron Chamber Banquet

The Cameron Chamber of Commerce will host its 83rd Annual Banquet on Monday, Feb. 27, at the Williams Event Center, located at 408 South Columbus Avenue in Cameron. Social hour will began at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.  Tickets are available to pick up at the Cameron Chamber of Commerce or from any Chamber board member. Milam County Aggie Mom’s Golf Tournament

The 5th Annual Milam County Aggie Mom’s Golf Tournament will be held March 4 at the Cameron Country Club. Four-man Scramble. Shot gun start at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Open to all golfers for $60 per player. ALCOA Retirees

The first meeting of the ALCOA Retirees for 2017 will be Thursday, March 9. The meeting will take place in the Lake Training Center. Set up begins at 4 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. A short meeting will be held just before 6 p.m. Election of Officers will be held at this meeting. Dessert group will be (last name) N-Z. No gift exchange or silent auction at this meeting.
