Second Annual Opening Day features family fun, baseball

Community members gather at The Yards of Cameron for Opening Day and the dedication of the facility last February. The Second Annual Opening Day is set for Feb. 18 and will offer baseball and family fun.

The community is invited to baseball games, family activities and a ceremonial first pitch of the 2017 season at The Yards of Cameron of Feb. 18.

 Cameron will host the second annual Opening Day at The Yards of Cameron. Opening Day is about bringing people together to play and enjoy baseball and family fun. 

 Activities start at 9 a.m. with a special guest first pitch followed by a chance for kids to get out and Run the Bases on the C.H. Yoe High Baseball field.  

More fun for kids and adults alike with a youth Wiffle Ball Tournament following Run the Bases. Everyone can step up to bat in a Home Run Derby following the tournament.

 The Home Run Derby is a great warm up to the Yoemen Alumni game starting at noon.   

The Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon with music by Jerry Bethel.  

An organizational meeting for a seasonal farmers market will follow the Farmer’s Market at 1 p.m. in Founder’s Hall. Cameron’s Brian Weaks will perform from noon to 1 p.m. im Founder’s Hall. 

 Helicopter rides will be offered all day by Freedom Helicopter Tours. 

Family Fun and Fitness this year includes a free Body Toning Class sponsored by HT Fitness followed by Kite Flying sponsored by Julie Sulak State Farm Insurance with free kites for kiddos while supplies last. 

 Opening Day is a partnership of Cameron Independent School District, Cameron Future Foundation, Cameron Industrial Foundation, Cameron Economic Development and the City of Cameron.

The Yards of Cameron is located at 301 Adams in Cameron.
