Claude Lane Gann

Claude L. Gann, age 90 of Austin, was surrounded by his family as he went home to the Lord on June 5, 2016 after a brief illness. 

He was born on Sept. 16, 1925 to David Charles Gann and Lela Viola Cosby Gann. He grew up and attended school in Buckholts. He served in the Army during the Korean War and shortly after his return he married the love of his life, Joyce Louise Riola on June 13, 1953. 

He was a career meat-cutter and worked at several grocery stores in the Central Texas area. After retiring he spent his time at his farm raising cattle and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Joyce; son David Gann of Austin; daughters, Claudia Gann, Dorothy Sauceda of Austin, Donna D’Amore and husband Greg of Thrall, Dee Ann Riley and husband, Jim of Round Rock; granddaughter Ashley Sauceda of Austin; grandsons James Riley II (Jimmie) of Liberty Hill, David Riley of Dripping Springs; sister Kathleen Jurca of Buckholts and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents David and Lela Gann, brothers, W.T., Charles, Buren, sisters, Eula Helen and Thelma Mae.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Freidberg of Urology Austin for caring for Claude during his last 2 months. Also a very special thanks to Tomeka Bryant for her care and companionship to him.

A memorial Service in his honor will be Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 200 W Anderson Lane Austin, Texas 78752.
