Esther Holland Kueker
Esther Holland Kueker, 75, of Buckholts died Tuesday, Jan. 5, at her home.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts with Rev. Gary Kleypas officiating. Burial will follow in the Hope Lutheran Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.
Esther was born Aug. 7, 1940 in Houston to Jack and Maggie (Sims) Holland. She was baptized early in life and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of which she was a lifetime member. She was an associate member of the Buckholts Brethren Church since 1999.
Esther was a faithful and devoted member of the church and served it in many ways as a teacher, and held a number of offices. She was a member of the Lions Club and served numerous times as president and secretary. She was a member of the V.F.W. and was involved with Wounded Warriors.
After retiring, she obtained her Master Gardener’s Certificate and became a member of the Milam County Master Gardeners Club. She loved to be outside and loved her flowers. She fought drought, grasshoppers and armadillos but she never gave up. She was a fighter to the end.
She is survived by her husband Johnny Kueker of Buckholts; daughters Karen Tappe and husband Robert of Burton, Kay Engeling Larson and husband Scott of Brenham, Kim Arnold and husband Ed of Hobbs, New Mexico and Jo Lynne Goldberg of Brenham; brother Allen Holland and wife Mary of Onalaska; niece Angie Hennigan of Bay City and nephew Bobby Holland of Onalaska; seven grandchildren, Kirby Tappe and wife Brittney, Kolbie Tappe, Karina Engeling, Krista Engeling, Garrett Larson, Stacy Goldberg and Darren Goldberg; and great granddaughter Braylie Tappe.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
